Sarah Burton’s Resort collection for McQueen was both utilitarian and majestic. nude body skimming pieces mixed with thick buckle belts, boxy snakeskin clutches and peep toe ankle strapped pumps gave off the feeling of aristocratic chic while the collection finished with typical McQueen spelendor: floor-length gowns with tulle for days and a noteworthy mermaid gown in ornate, embroidered gold.

with the boys of Proenza Schouler on the top of everyones list, there is no surprised they yet again killed their newest collection for Resort. mixing in earthy fall colors like burnt orange, muted reds and nudes designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have created another collection that designers will take note of come next season. expect to see Proenza inspired everything.

it would be a safe bet to make that Phoebe Philo’s Resort collection will quickly churn out the most covetable pieces come early Spring. editors, stylists, fans and Kanye West will all clamor for the designers newest take on the ‘it’ pieces. What Phoebe designs, others crave. taking a step away from her minimal outlook on womenswear, Philo’s newest collection is full of bold prints, oversized jackets and everyday tops that are both feminen and masculine.

Givenchy

Ricardo Tisci’s focal point for Givenchy Resort was a mash of a safari-themed aesthetic with the NYC girls (they may become one in the same). with print tops and skirts with custom birds of paradise graphics and tan button ups to sleek pencil skirts and beautifully draped blazers, the designer paired many looks with hats were reminiscent of those he presented for Fall’11 (minus the cat ears), only with a more beach-focused style and color combinations.

Gucci

the look book images for the Gucci Resort collection are breezy and suntanned, from the walls to the models own complexions, the looks are like a breath of fresh air. designer Frida Gianni paired bright colors with muted neutrals across the board, and not one look suffered. in fact, they excelled.

a metallic gold pleated skirt and a latex-like shiny camel leather dress were covetable, to say the least.

Mulberry

Mulberry’s Resort collection is, for lack of better words, fun. the use of red and yellow with neutral grey’s and nudes almost punch you in the face- and paired with graphic donkeys and a curious pear placed directly in the middle of two sweatshirts, its hard to take a mental note.

Derek Lam

i love everything about Derek Lam. his Resort collection reads like my must have list for life. casual yet sophisticated, easy yet uber- stylish, his pieces are easily worn as styled, although most would be happy to take home one piece and wear it until they die.

denim and color-blocking took center stage for the designer. each focal point was easily worked into the collection of supplemental leather, knits, waist cropped jackets and parachute pants in neutral nude and gray and black and royal blue color-blocked perfection.

Alexandre Herchcovitch

Alexander Herchcovitch presented his first Resort collection. short and sweet, the brazilian designer focused on delicate patterns, easy separates and an all over late 60′s vibe: bangs, flipped out hair and all. pale pinks and muted silvers made up most of the collection, but a noteworthy mid-calf length, bustier jumper stole the show.
