Lagerfeld presented the anticipated fall/winter Chanel collection upon layers of volcanic rock. whether they were imported or for show is undetermined.

the collection took on dark menswear look, with oversized trousers and chunky boots, classic tweed jackets in jade and black and jumpsuits, one in particular in a quilted black fabric with matching short jacket.
fingerless gloves in mesh and knit and chunky oversized socks folded over heavy boots left little room to focus on the delicate, classic Chanel handbags and clean night appropriate make-up.

Marc Jacob presented a SHOW for his F/W collection of Louis Vuitton. a provocative collection to say the least, models were led out of working elevator lifts and wrought iron entries by gentlemanly hotel porters. inspired by the concept of “passions” according to Jacobs, the show gave the slight feel of the underbelly of top hotels and the high-class hookers that frequent them.
structured pieces including jackets and shorts were paired with patent leather brimmed chauffer-type hats and knee-high stalkings. next came more appropriate attire including knee-length metallic skirts and fur stohls, and then back to sultry leg bearing hot shorts and calf grazing elasticized pumps.

Muiccia Prada took a look back to the 40′s with her collection for fall. the pieces were were elgant in bright, vibrant colors with numerous covetable prints. bright red lips, cat eye sunglasses and parisian combed hair and strappy shoes over ankle length socks finished out the look.

Sarah Burton presented her second RTW collection on her own for McQueen. “The Ice Queen and her Court” was presented in La Conciergerie, Marie Antoinette’s prison. the collection brought in the use of fur. everywhere. shoudlers, hemlines, seams. silver metallic barettes held the models hair back from their faces, leaving the dresses front and center. harness bondage appeared in more than one way, heavy and thick woven in with a black corset dress and lightly onto of a white high-necked, long-sleeved gown (light and dark, evil and pure??) in an ode to McQueen.
:: details. there aren’t even words for the shoes, which thankfully speak for themselves.

im not sure if i have said this before on this blog…but i have a huge style crush, or maybe just a crush, on Giles Deacon. thankfully that has also been transfered to his work for Emanuel Ungaro. the fall/winter collection was a clear sign the designer is well poised to take the fashion house forward, confidently.
the collection had a sophisticated, sexy edge with a faint touch of sweetness- seen in pale pink floral shifts and delicate lace. the hard edge was seen strongly in a full-length leather gowns, body baring grey lace embroidered dresses and thick metal neck bands.

Elie Saab makes clothes you could happily live in. few designers are able to make leather jackets, sweater dresses and gowns so well. the floral, blood red, plum and metallic silver hip-hugging, leg bearing gowns are perfection. there was nothing beyond, nothing over the top, but it all worked.

obviously inspired by the hunter vs. the hunted paradigm, Ricardo Tisci presented a vibrant collection for Fall. panthers amid black silk suits and rainforest images strewn across jackets, Tisci did not stray very far from his theme. “baseball hats with cat ears” as described by style.com gave off the feel of that hunter you saw in George of the Jungle. pencil skirts, high-necked button up shirts, embroidered jackets and leather varsity jackets made for a confusing look and feel.
what did work? tea length layered skirts of both satin and sheer mesh and thick rimmed glasses, inspired by 50′s pin-up Betty Paige, tight pencil skirts over patterned mesh and loose sweaters. the overall color choices for the collection was amazing as well.
